Exclusive print available for purchase at public reception on Oct. 4

Wabash, Ind. – Honeywell Arts & Entertainment will host an exhibit by artist Hugh Syme from Sept. 27 through Nov. 5 at the Clark Gallery in the Honeywell Center. The exhibit, titled “Improbable Reality,” will feature 50 of his best-known works, including album covers he created for legendary bands like Aerosmith, Alice Cooper, Bon Jovi, Rush, and Whitesnake, as well as pieces of his personal artwork. Syme will be on-site for a public reception on Wednesday, Oct. 4, at 7 p.m. at the Honeywell Center. Syme will mingle with guests, participate in a moderated Q&A, and sign an exclusive, limited-edition print that will be available for purchase that evening. Reception reservations are recommended and can be made by calling 260.563.1102 or visiting honeywellarts.org.

Fifty years and counting, creating timeless works of art, Hugh Syme is an award-winning illustrator, designer, 5-time Canadian Juno Award-winning graphic artist, and musician. Syme is an accomplished artist with a longstanding collaboration with the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee band Rush, dating back to 1975 when he designed album artwork for Caress of Steel and the band’s iconic Starman logo. His artistic contributions extend to creating timeless album covers for highly successful records.

Syme is best known for his artwork and cover concepts for world-famous musicians and bands, some of whom have performed at the Honeywell Center. Beyond his music-related work, Syme is celebrated for his creations in diverse media for books, film, and advertising. Corporations such as Disney, Coca-Cola, Paramount, Universal Studios, Microsoft, Forbes, and major pharmaceutical companies have sought his creative expertise.

Originally from Toronto, Syme has lived in New Castle, Indiana, on and off since 1987. When working in Indiana, he collaborated with a Muncie-based photographer for set pieces. He used local individuals as models and nearby architecture to construct the final images for his work. Syme is an artist and a musician skilled in piano, keyboard, and guitar. He has made musical contributions to albums by the Ian Thomas Band, Jim McCarty, Alice In Chains, and Tiles. Within the realm of music, Syme has made notable appearances on four studio albums by Rush.

The Clark Gallery hosts exhibits by students, amateurs, and professional artists. Visual art experiences are an important part of the Honeywell Arts & Entertainment mission of providing arts, education, and entertainment for all. To learn more, visit honeywellarts.org.
